2004-2005

December 2005
We welcome Silence is Golden. 14.2 palomino Welara mare to our broodmare band. Twinkie, as she is known ,has been kindly loaned to us by the Bacon family of Conneticut as there daughter has outgrown her. This mare has an extensive performance background in the hunter world and we will be seeking a suitable partner for her in 2006.

May everyone have a safe and happy holiday.

October 2005
We had the pleasure of preparing HW Ranch's (WWW.HWRanch.com) filly Donatella HW, Don Frederico/Weltmeyer, for her mare and performance testing with the AHS. Donna stayed with us for 3 months and I swear she grew 2 inches during that time, so balancing her feeding and training (by my friend Maya Sniadecky) to maintain optimum condition was somewhat tricky. We started her on Buckeye Nutritions Trifecta and added additional Ultimate Finish as needed closer to the date of her big day. We are very happy to announce that she not only won the Hanoverian mare championship but also overall champion with the judges being very impressed with her ridability for a 3 yr old. They also noted that she is an ideal modern type and she recieved 8's on many things. This was a very exciting outcome for her owner/breeder Irene Wiederhold as Donna was orphaned at 3 months old and didn't do so well after losing her dam. Congratulations Irene and have fun Vivienne showing her this winter :-)

The first weekend in October I traveled with 3 pupils to the USDF region 3 championships in Jacksonville, Florida. All 3 , Kim Long of Ocala, Mary Barber, Ocala and Robin Cannizaro, Brooksville, Fl. qualified for adult amateur 2nd level with Mary also qualifying for 3rd level. Unfortunately, after a work out in the somewhat wet conditions, following the previous days tropical storm, Robin's horse came up lame and she was unable to compete.
Mary competed on the first day in the 3rd level AA champs and came in a creditable 4th. Kim showed in a warm up class, 3rd 2 and ended up with a 61...% and her first score at that level towards her bronze medal.
Sunday they both competed in the 2nd level AA champs with Mary placing 3rd and kim 8th (after nerves got the best of her and she went off course)
Congratulations to both.
Sept 2005
Our champion premium filly, Fleurie CFP, attended her first show at the prestigious Dressage at Devon. Lesley reported that her behavior was exemplary and seemed to enjoy her experience in the electric show atmosphere. She came in 3rd in the ISR pony class of which there were 10 entries. She scored a very pleasing 75.200 with 1st and 2nd placed ponies both scoring 75.300. She then shipped home to Florida. We are very excited to have her home and she has settled in very well and is in a paddock next to her half sister Waverly.

July/August 2005
Our pride and joy, Fleurie was a star at her ISR inspection at Hilltop Farm, MD. She scored an outstanding 8.3 for Premium foal making her top scoring pony foal and champion filly. Huge thanks to Trevelyan farm for all their hard work in getting Fleurie ready for her inspection. She will be competing in the ISR pony class at Dressage at Devon in September and then will be travelling home to Forida.
We are proud to announce the purchase of Whispering Almond from Mt. Dragon Welsh. Almond had a super foal this year by imported stallion Wedderlie Maradona so we decided to breed her back to him for 2006.
Our other two mares Pashmina and Mischka (aka Jasmine) are safely in foal to Telynau Braveheart and B.F Oliver Twist respectively. All three expected foals will be foals will be for sale.

May 2005
We are happy to have joined forces with Mt. Dragon Welsh of Joseph, Oregon. Kathleen will be sending top quality ponies of all sections to Cottage Farm. Buyers on the east coast now have an opportunity to see the results of the "Evans" breeding program first hand. We would be happy to help you find your next pony prospect. Call (352) 812 3271 and let us know what you are looking for. We may already have "the one" Our first pony from Mt. Dragon, Moonstruck can be seen on the sales page.
We now have our own prefix. Our Welsh and welsh crosses will have the prefix Fernview. Fernview was my family home in England and I was actually born there, so I feel it is a fitting title for our homebred ponies.

March 2005
Fleurie born Good Friday March 25th 2005 by Forrest Flame out of Zauberelle. Making her a half sister to our very own Waverly. She was purchased in-utero and we got just what we ordered and couldn't be more thrilled.
A big thanks goes to Lesley Feakins for allowing us to purchase this first cross of Forrest and Magic (Zauberelle). This is going to be a dressage pony supreme with her dad, an up and coming dressage star , and her mum, a retired Grand Prix competitor. Below are 2 pictures taken when she was 12 hours old (left) and 36 hours old (right).

Happy New Year!
2005 promises lots of new happenings at Cottage Farm.
We are in the process of creating a partnership with another farm, so that we can have an inventory of top quality ponies available right here in Florida. We hope to have this exciting venture ready to go by March.
Our own ponies are doing great. Waverly is now 2 yrs old, only one more year to wait until I can breed her!
The boys, Evans Night of the Dragon and Far Niente are growing taller and stronger and are a blast to be around. I will be working on getting their very own pages very soon.

Cottage Farm is pleased to announce a partnership with Winding Oaks Welsh of Morriston, Florida on the outstanding sport pony colt "Far Niente". Far Niente aka Finn is a stunning buckskin tobiano by the New Forest stallion Forrest Flame. He is expected to mature as a large and will stand along with "Evans night of the Dragon" starting in 2006. Look for him in the sport pony classes next year.
August 2004
Yeah! We finally got around to putting in the dressage arena. Located close to the barn for convenience of horse and rider, the slightly over size arena is built on a limerock base with a sand/clay footing.. Finishing touches still need to be put in place but it's nice to have somewhere flat to ride at last

July 2004
July has been a very exciting month for me as I finally found, and purchased my very own sport pony stallion prospect. A big thanks goes to kathleen Rawls of Mt. Dragon Welsh who bred "Night" Evan's Night of the Dragon is a Section B Welsh colt with outstanding bloodlines. His sire is Morton's the Celebrity (Stockham Commander X Cennen sonatina). His dam, Evan's Bram Stoker (Bristol Victorio X Woodridge Legacy) is one of the foundation broodmares of Evans Ponies and is also the dam of the highly succesful young stallion Evan's Providence of the Night. We are hopeful that "Night" will follow in his big brothers hoofprints.
"Night" strutting his stuff at Mt. Dragon Welsh. He is approx. 2 1/2 months old here.
